Tea tree is one of most popular essential oils widely applied in natural medicine. It is obtained from Melaleuca alternifolia plant, and initially it was used for many purposes by the Aborigines in Australia. Its name may be misleading because actually it doesn’t have anything in common with tea. Compresses made of pressed leaves were used to dress wounds, fragrant infusions soothed sore throat and were a panacea for all skin problems.
That is why tea tree oil is widely used in treatment of various ailments.
Inhalation (add 5-7 drops to a bowl of warm water)
supports treatment of upper respiratory tract infections, rhinitis, pharyngitis, cough, bronchitis.
It soothes insect bites, e.g. mosquitoes or fleas – we apply the oil to a bite.
In case of skin lesions and acne, apply it topically, diluting it previously with jojoba oil.
In case of dandruff or lice, one should add a few drops to a shampoo.
